In July, 2013 our family went of a ten day raft trip down the Grand Canyon. This was a Bucket List trip for me and it was amazing. We went with AZRA and highly recommend them if you’re considering this trip.
We went with our good friends Adam, Loan and Jared Beguelin. There were two other awesome families from Bellingham, WA on the trip as well.
We had to hike down the Bright Angel Trail 7.5 miles to meet the rafts. Here is a pic as we started down from the rim of the Grand Canyon:
Six and Jared were troopers!
We camped on sandbars every night. It was really, really hot. I usually slept in nothing but shorts. Here is a pic of Six and Jared looking like they did every morning:
Another morning. There were lots of scorpions and red ants. Holly got stung by a baby scorpion. No big deal for her – she’s tough!
Camp kitchen. Food was great. Notice the water is clear in this pic. The next day, and for the rest of the trip, the river was muddy because of a big storm upriver.
Cocktail hour happened every night. (Notice the muddy river).
We did lots of hikes while on the river. This one was a sunset hike:
The kids decided to have a toga theme one evening:
One of the Dad’s took this pic of Six and posted it on Facebook. This pic pretty much sums up the awesomeness of the trip. What could be better than shooting the moon while jumping into the Colorado River?
Last day pic with the whole crew:
